Agila Bikers Night July 10

As many have observed, the cost of gasoline per volume is now more expensive than our favorite beers. So, until OPEC ramps up its production, or China and India decrease their consumption, or the situation in Nigeria stabilizes, or a deep global recession will decrease world consumption dramatically, or speculators will move away from commodities, or the US dollar gains strength, or hell freezes over, we will be tempted to spend on and consume more of the fuel of the other kind.

Motorcycle Consumer News Performance Index

The most recent motorcycle performance index by MCN can be found here. MCN is considered by many as writing the most unbiased motorcycle reviews as it does not carry advertisements from manufacturers or dealers; it gets its income from subscriptions. What you get to see in the web version are digests or just a sampling of the articles found in the print version.

The bikes that get the excellent rating are mostly sportsbikes. MCN cautions the reader to compare a bike to other similar types. For example, it would be off the mark to compare a heavyweight cruiser with a sports touring bike.

I still haven’t been able to determine exactly how MCN comes with the ratings. Handling, as reported by the reviewer, as well as the price of the unit, is apparently factored in together with the bike’s technical/time performance to get the rating.

The used bike value guide is here to remind us how cheap bikes are in the States.

Agilas Toast the Pacman

The Davao Agila Riders join the whole nation in toasting Manny Pacquiao on the masterful boxing he displayed in trouncing (what’s his name) Diaz last Sunday, June 29.

Sunday morning was a perfect time to ride since there were relatively few vehicles in the streets as most Filipinos were glued to their TV set waiting for the fight to begin.
