Valley Golf expels De la Paz for causing brawl

(Dated Jan 11, but learned of it just today. The bloggers I scan (and the chronic email forwarders) who were taken in by the daughter's version of the event did not do as a good job of updating me of this development as compared to when the story first broke out. Reprinting the news report in case you missed it, too...)

MANILA, Philippines - Valley Golf Course and Country Club officials on Sunday expelled Delfin de la Paz from its roster of members and suspended Agrarian Reform Secretary Nasser Pangandaman Sr. in connection with their scuffle at the club's last month.

In a two-page resolution, the golf course’s board of directors sanctioned De la Paz for “disorderly behavior" when he instigated the brawl with Mayor Nasser Pangandaman Jr. of Masiu in Lanao del Sur, his brother Mohammed Hussein, and their bodyguards.

The Valley Golf officials "banned for life" nonmembers Nasser Jr. and Hussein for "unruly behavior" at the golf course. More.

High on the Hog

by: Thomas M. Rickers

I’ll never forget my first time. It started out a little rough: herky-jerky stops and starts, flailing legs, panicky sweating and thoughts of God, I hope no one is watching this. But once I had nailed down the basics, once I was finally out there with the throttle open, leaning into the curves, it hit me: I was riding a motorcycle, my motorcycle. It was pure, childlike joy.

Agila Pictures (Video Part 3)

Gathered the pictures from the blog (and some), cropped them to the required size, powered up Windows Movie Maker -and after a few nights - a picture show.

I had planned to put "movies" at YouTube, but the audio was rejected because of "copyright infringments". (Terribly impressed with the pattern recognition software built into YouTube.) Explored changing the music to those allowed by YouTube but didn't like the choices and the procedure was simply too much of a hassle. Maybe, I can eventually find a way to post them in YouTube in the future.

Being able to do the movies should be enough proof that I have much too much idle time here. But to the chagrin of the Devil, I neither have the money nor the opportunity to do something stupid.

Happy New Year

Even this self-proclaimed positivist did want to take his chances. What if it is really true that what one does the first day will determine what happens the rest of the year? So Jan 1, 2009, this fresh and cleanly shaven pagan had his pockets stuffed with coins, ate the noodles, took the KLR 650 (now sporting the required registration plates) out for a spin, and downed the obligatory bottle of beer with gusto.

Happy New Year, Agila Riders! In addition to Wealth and Health, may we have more fun and more rides this 2009.
